Upload Multiple Files at Once
Got a stack of tax documents? Instead of uploading them one at a time, FileJoy lets you upload multiple files in a single batch. This is the fastest way to get all your documents into the system.
How to Bulk Upload
Option 1: Select Multiple Files
- Go to **Documents** in the sidebar
- Click **Upload Documents**
- In the file picker, **hold Ctrl (Windows) or Cmd (Mac)** and click each file you want to upload
- Click **Open** to start the upload
Option 2: Drag and Drop
- Go to **Documents** in the sidebar
- Open your file manager or Finder window alongside FileJoy
- Select all the files you want to upload
- **Drag them** into the upload area on the Documents page
- Drop them to start uploading
Both methods work the same way—choose whichever is more convenient for you.
Upload Queue and Progress
When you upload multiple files, FileJoy shows you a progress queue:
- Each file appears in the queue with its **filename** and **upload status**
- Files are processed one at a time in the order they were added
- You'll see a progress bar for the current upload
- A green checkmark appears when each file is done
- If a file fails, you'll see a red indicator with the reason
You can continue using FileJoy while uploads process in the background. The upload queue stays visible in the corner so you can monitor progress.
Supported Formats
FileJoy accepts the following file types for bulk upload:
- **PDF** — best for W-2s, 1099s, and official tax forms
- **JPEG / PNG / WebP** — great for photos of documents
- **CSV** — useful for bank statements and transaction exports
File Size Limit
Each file can be up to 10MB. If a file exceeds this limit:
- Try compressing the PDF using a free online tool
- For images, reduce the resolution or save in JPEG format
- For large CSV files, split them into smaller batches
Tips
- Name your files descriptively before uploading (e.g., "W2-MainJob-2025.pdf") to make them easier to find later
- After uploading, check the **Documents** page to make sure all files were processed correctly
- FileJoy's AI will automatically scan each document and attempt to classify and extract data
- If a document isn't recognized, you can manually tag it with the correct document type
