Browser compatibility issues

Recommended Browsers

FileJoy works best on modern, up-to-date browsers. We officially support:

  • **Google Chrome** (version 90+) — recommended for the best experience
  • **Mozilla Firefox** (version 90+)
  • **Apple Safari** (version 15+)
  • **Microsoft Edge** (version 90+)

If you're using an older browser or an unsupported browser (like Internet Explorer), you may experience layout issues, missing features, or errors.

Common Browser Issues and Fixes

Pages Not Loading or Displaying Incorrectly

If FileJoy pages look broken, don't load, or behave unexpectedly:

#### Clear Your Cache and Cookies

Old cached files can cause display issues, especially after we release updates.

  1. Open your browser's **Settings** or **Preferences**
  2. Find **Privacy** or **Clear Browsing Data**
  3. Select **Cached images and files** and **Cookies**
  4. Choose the time range "Last 7 days" or "All time"
  5. Click **Clear Data**
  6. Reload FileJoy

#### Try Private/Incognito Mode

This is a quick way to test if the issue is caused by cached data or extensions:

  • **Chrome**: Press **Ctrl+Shift+N** (Windows) or **Cmd+Shift+N** (Mac)
  • **Firefox**: Press **Ctrl+Shift+P** (Windows) or **Cmd+Shift+P** (Mac)
  • **Safari**: Press **Cmd+Shift+N**
  • **Edge**: Press **Ctrl+Shift+N**

If FileJoy works in incognito mode, the problem is likely a browser extension or cached data.

Browser Extensions Causing Problems

Some extensions can interfere with FileJoy, especially:

  • **Ad blockers** (uBlock Origin, AdBlock Plus) — may block legitimate API calls
  • **Privacy extensions** (Privacy Badger, Ghostery) — may block analytics or session tracking
  • **VPN extensions** — can cause connection issues
  • **Script blockers** (NoScript) — may prevent JavaScript from running

#### How to Test

  1. Disable all browser extensions temporarily
  2. Reload FileJoy
  3. If it works, re-enable extensions **one at a time** to find the culprit
  4. Add FileJoy to the extension's **allowlist** if possible

Update Your Browser

An outdated browser can cause compatibility issues:

  • **Chrome**: Click the three-dot menu > **Help** > **About Google Chrome** (updates automatically)
  • **Firefox**: Click the menu > **Help** > **About Firefox**
  • **Safari**: Update through **System Preferences** > **Software Update**
  • **Edge**: Click the three-dot menu > **Help and Feedback** > **About Microsoft Edge**

Known Issues

  • **Safari on iOS 14 and earlier**: Some form inputs may not respond properly. Update to iOS 15+ for the best experience.
  • **Firefox with strict tracking protection**: May cause session issues. Add FileJoy to the exceptions list.
  • **Internet Explorer**: Not supported. Please use Edge or another modern browser.
