Common Login Problems and Solutions

Having trouble getting into your FileJoy account? Here are the most common issues and how to fix them.

Wrong Password

The most common reason for login failures is simply an incorrect password.

How to Reset Your Password

  1. On the login page, click **Forgot Password**
  2. Enter the email address associated with your account
  3. Check your inbox for a password reset link (check spam/junk if you don't see it)
  4. Click the link and create a new password
  5. Log in with your new password

Password requirements: At least 8 characters, with at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one number, and one special character.

Account Locked (Rate Limiting)

To protect your account from unauthorized access, FileJoy temporarily locks accounts after too many failed login attempts.

  • After **5 failed attempts**, your account is locked for **15 minutes**
  • You'll see a message saying "Too many login attempts. Please try again later."
  • Just wait 15 minutes and try again with the correct password
  • If you're not sure of your password, use the **Forgot Password** flow after the lockout expires

MFA (Two-Factor Authentication) Issues

If you have MFA enabled and can't get past the verification step:

Code Not Working

  • Make sure you're using the **most recent** code from your authenticator app (codes change every 30 seconds)
  • Check that the **time on your phone** is correct—authenticator apps rely on accurate time
  • Try waiting for the next code to generate

Lost Access to Authenticator App

  • Use one of your **backup codes** to log in (click "Use a backup code" on the MFA screen)
  • Each backup code works only once
  • If you've used all your backup codes, contact support at **support@filejoy.com**

Browser Issues

Sometimes the problem isn't your credentials—it's your browser.

Clear Cookies and Cache

  1. Open your browser settings
  2. Find "Clear browsing data" or "Clear cookies"
  3. Clear cookies for **filejoy.com** specifically (or all cookies)
  4. Try logging in again

Try a Different Browser

If clearing cookies doesn't help, try logging in with a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) to rule out browser-specific issues.

Disable Browser Extensions

Some ad blockers, privacy extensions, or VPNs can interfere with login. Try disabling them temporarily.

Still Can't Log In?

If none of the above solutions work:

  1. Email **support@filejoy.com** from the email address on your account
  2. Include a description of the issue and any error messages you see
  3. Our team will respond within 24 hours to help you regain access
