Your Home Base

The dashboard is the first thing you see after logging in. It gives you a bird's-eye view of your tax situation and makes it easy to jump into whatever you need to work on.

Tax Year Selector

At the top of the dashboard, you'll see a dropdown that lets you switch between tax years. If you're working on your 2025 return, make sure "2025" is selected. You can also create a new tax year from here.

Refund or Amount Owed Summary

Front and center, you'll see your current estimated refund or amount owed. This number updates in real time as you add income, deductions, and credits. Think of it as a running scoreboard for your return.

Quick Stats

Below the summary, you'll see helpful quick stats including:

  • **W-2s added** — How many W-2 forms you've entered
  • **Businesses** — Number of self-employment activities or Schedule C entries
  • **Documents uploaded** — Total documents in your library

These help you quickly gauge how complete your return is.

Quick Actions

The dashboard includes shortcut buttons for common tasks:

  • **Add W-2** — Jump straight to adding wage income
  • **Upload Documents** — Open the document uploader
  • **Review Return** — Preview your return before filing

Year-to-Year Trends

If you've used FileJoy for more than one year, you'll see a trends chart comparing your income, deductions, and refund across years. This is a great way to spot changes and make sure nothing looks off.

Past Returns

At the bottom of the dashboard, you can access your previously filed returns. Click any past return to view, download, or print the PDF.

Tips

  • Check your dashboard regularly as you add information—it's the quickest way to see how your return is shaping up
  • Use the quick actions to stay on track
  • If your refund estimate looks surprisingly high or low, review your entries for mistakes
